Lizette Roman serves as the Programs Coordinator at the Alliance for a Better Community (ABC), where she supports the development and implementation of community-centered programs that advance educational equity, civic engagement, digital inclusion, and economic opportunity. Through community partnerships, educational workshops, and leadership initiatives, she helps expand access to resources and opportunities for underserved communities while creating spaces where individuals feel informed, connected, and empowered to take action.
Lizette first joined ABC in 2024 as a Communications Intern while pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and Public Relations. She was drawn to the opportunity because she knew she wanted to use communications as a tool to reach people, strengthen underserved communities, and make important information more accessible. During her internship, she saw firsthand how community-centered communication could connect families to resources, build trust, and inspire civic participation—an experience that confirmed she had found the type of work she wanted to pursue. She later returned to ABC as a Programs Assistant before advancing to her current role as Programs Coordinator.
Lizette is currently a Master of Public Administration candidate at the University of Southern California. She is passionate about helping people better understand the systems that affect their daily lives and believes civic engagement begins with access to information. Whether through educational workshops, leadership development, or community partnerships, her work is centered on helping individuals recognize that their voices matter, feel confident advocating for themselves and their communities, and become active participants in shaping the future of the places they call home.
