Latino/a Professionals Network

The goal of ABC’s Latino/a Professionals Network (LPN) is to convene, engage, and inform a base of emerging and established Latino/a professionals in advocacy efforts, networking opportunities and personal and professional development.

Overview

The State of California sits as the fifth largest economy in the world. The future of California’s economy and sustainability will be reliant on the increasing number of Latino/a students pursuing higher education, graduating from educational institutions and joining the professional workforce. Of California’s higher public education institutions including Cal States, University of California Universities and community colleges, 43% are Latino/a students.

It goes without saying that Latino/a professionals are a force that provides immense social, political and economical power to California and the City of Los Angeles, but have yet to yield this power to its fullest potential. While more Latino/a students are graduating from public universities than generations before, the post academic success of the graduating Latino/a population is contingent on the resources, networking and opportunities accessible that support emerging graduates in their transition to California’s economic workforce.

The LPN was created with an understanding that established and emerging Latino/a professionals thrive and succeed when opportunities, resources, and thoughtful engagement on critical issues of today are present and accessible far beyond higher education. Some of LPN’s founding values stem from Latino/a professional’s desire to connect with other professionals in a way that uplifts, supports and enhances the Latino/a professional community and creates successful pathways for the next generation.

Additionally, an important focus for the LPN sustaining the connection between accomplished Latino/a professionals who have overcome social, economic and educational barriers and those who continue to confront challenges in the trajectory of their career.
