California’s State Primary Election is on June 2, 2026. It’s an opportunity for Angelenos to make an impact on the federal, state, county, and city level.
California’s open primary system includes voter-elected offices, including state legislative offices, U.S. Congressional offices, and local city and county offices. In a primary election, the top two candidates with the most votes move on to the General Election on November 3, 2026.
In June, we will vote on not only California primary candidates, but also Los Angeles County and City of Los Angeles office candidates and measures.
The Primary Election is a crucial step towards determining who takes on key leadership roles, including Governor of California, Los Angeles City Mayor, United States Congresspeople, and State Senators and Assemblymembers. These leaders make decisions that impact our schools, healthcare, housing, and local communities.
When we cast our vote, we’re doing our part to elect a candidate that truly represents our community and advocates for our needs.
