Tina Ochoa serves as the Vice President of Programs and Strategic Partnerships for Alliance for a Better Community. She has strategic and operational responsibility for staff, programs, partnerships, expansion, and the execution of ABC’s mission.
Tina brings over 15 years of experience leading innovative initiatives designed to improve educational achievement and outcomes for underserved and marginalized students across the K-13 continuum, as well as for young adults and their families. In her current role as VP of Programs and Strategic Partnerships, Tina brings a wealth of experiences garnered through her multifaceted roles within statewide and national organizations. Her extensive responsibilities have included: strategic and operational leadership; fund development; creation and design of culturally relevant curriculum, resources and training; program administrations and expansion; staff management and development; fostering collaboration among schools, districts, families and community stakeholders, and civic leaders; and social justice and equity advocacy.
Tina’s professional journey has included management and leadership positions with non-profit and state organizations including the Center for Civic Education, the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence, Families In Schools, and Citizen Schools. She is a graduate of the University of Arizona and has a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Sociology.
ABC’s mission to improve outcomes for marginalized populations, particularly Latina/o communities, and to build a stronger, more just society deeply resonates with Tina’s commitment to equity and collective agency. For over a decade, she has dedicated her career to advancing equity and social justice by leveraging education and leadership development as powerful tools for community transformation; and to fostering inclusive collaboration among diverse stakeholders and co-creating solutions to address systemic barriers to help empower communities to drive meaningful change.
In her free time, Tina loves spending time in nature and with her family and friends.
