Stephanie serves as the Communications and Policy Coordinator for Alliance for a Better Community and is responsible for developing and implementing a narrative change initiative impacting English learner (EL) and dual language learner students and college students in Los Angeles County and represents ABC in multiple coalitions and as Co-Chair of the Consortium for English Learner Success.
Before joining ABC, Stephanie worked as an outreach specialist for an organization that is dedicated to preventing child abuse. Her work was primarily focused on forming and cultivating partnerships with nonprofit organizations and schools in the Central and South Los Angeles areas. Additionally, during graduate school, Stephanie conducted research to identify child-friendly developmentally appropriate practices for unaccompanied migrant children appearing alone in immigration courts. This research, performed alongside a team of public policy students, helped inform a set of policy recommendations aimed at improving the experiences of children navigating the complex immigration court system. Stephanie is passionate about uplifting people’s lived experiences and including communities in the policy-making process.
She is a Los Angeles native and first-generation college graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Affairs and a Master of Public Policy from UCLA.
