Lola Olvera (she/they) is a Communications Coordinator at Alliance for a Better Community, where she plays a key role in shaping and implementing the social media and email strategy, with the goal of building an informed and engaged community. She also supports the team with content creation, communications strategy, media relations, website management, and coalition-building.
Lola attended community college before transferring to California State University, Long Beach, to earn her bachelor’s degree in Journalism, and later added a specialization in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion from Rice University. She has a diverse background in communications, marketing, journalism, and advocacy in the nonprofit and arts and culture sectors.
Lola’s lived experiences as a first-generation college graduate raised in a bilingual immigrant household help inform her work across ABC’s key focus areas. She is passionate about collaborative, community-centered storytelling, intersectional approaches to social justice issues, and campaigns that empower people to think critically and take action.
In her free time, Lola can be found befriending neighborhood cats, attending local art events, and sipping away at aguas frescas.
