DESCRIPTION:Join us for the first Zócalo of 2024 to discuss Green Schools and launch our report on green spaces in LA Unified.  \n\n\n\nThe report titled “Protecting Students and Our Changing Climate: Equitable Strategies for Addressing Green Schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District” explores the profound impact of green spaces on the well-being of students\, communities\, and the environment.  \n\n\n\nOur Zócalo will be a space to explore the findings and recommendations in the report and uplift the voices of experts and community members as we strive to adopt an equity-first approach in tackling the disproportionate effects of climate change on Latino/a communities across Los Angeles County. \n\n\n\nABC’s Zócalo takes inspiration from the Zócalo in Mexico City\, known as the main ceremonial center in the Aztec city of Tenochtitlan. It has been a gathering place for the community since the era of the Aztec empire\, having been the site of ceremonies\, the swearing-in of elected leaders\, royal proclamations\, and independence celebrations\, among others. In this same spirit\, ABC’s Zócalo series will serve as a place to gather\, celebrate\, learn\, experience art and culture\, and create spaces for meaningful discussions on key issues.
